Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 September 2026
This policy explains how the AX Stickers iPhone app ("the app", "we") handles information. The app was built to be private by architecture rather than by promise: it has no user accounts, no server of its own, and contains no networking code at all.
1. Information we do not collect
The app does not ask you to create an account or provide a name, email address, phone number or location. It contains no analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs, and no third-party code of any kind. We do not build profiles and we have no way to identify you.
We never see the contents of your book. There is no server to send it to.
2. Information stored on your device
Everything you add is stored only on your iPhone, in an encrypted file inside the app's own container:
- Your stickers — titles, fields, dates and notes;
- Photos and documents you attach, each encrypted separately;
- Your pages, favourites and app preferences such as the auto-lock delay.
Encryption uses AES-GCM. The key is generated on your device at first launch and stored in the iOS Keychain with the strictest practical protection: it is bound to this device and does not travel to iCloud Keychain or to a new phone.
3. Private stickers and biometrics
A sticker marked private is sealed with a second key that iOS releases only after Face ID or Touch ID. Authentication is performed by iOS; the app never receives your biometric data, which never leaves the Secure Enclave.
Because that key is tied to your currently enrolled biometrics, adding a new face or fingerprint causes iOS to destroy it. This is a deliberate security property, not a fault: after such a change, private stickers can only be restored from your own backup.
4. Network requests
The app makes none. It has no networking code, and an automated check in our build process fails if any is ever introduced. It works entirely offline, including in aeroplane mode.
5. Camera and photo access
The camera is used for one purpose only: reading a QR code you point it at. Nothing is recorded, stored or transmitted. Photos you choose to attach are read through the system picker, encrypted, and kept inside the app.
6. Sharing a sticker
When you hand a sticker to someone, the app encrypts it with a code you choose and renders the result as a QR code on your screen, or as a file you send yourself. The data travels directly between the two devices or through whatever channel you pick. It does not pass through us, and we never hold a copy.
The expiry and the once-only rule on a hand-over are enforced by the receiving app rather than by the encryption itself. They protect against reuse by accident, not against someone determined who has both the code and a modified app.
7. Backups
The app does not upload anything, so there is no cloud backup. You can export your whole book into a single file encrypted with a password you choose, using PBKDF2 and AES-GCM. That file is yours: we never see it, and only your password opens it. If you lose the password, the file cannot be recovered — by us or by anyone.
The app's own data directory is excluded from iCloud and iTunes device backups.
8. Screenshots
iOS does not allow any app to block screenshots. We cannot prevent them and do not claim to. The app notices when one is taken, warns you, and immediately hides any private sticker that was on screen.
9. Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone, regardless of age.
10. Data security
Data is encrypted at rest with AES-GCM and additionally protected by iOS file protection, meaning it is unreadable while the device is locked. The app locks itself when it goes to the background and hides its contents in the app switcher.
No security measure is absolute. A jailbroken device, or one whose passcode is known to someone else, weakens every protection described here.
11. Your rights
Since we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or delete on your behalf. You are in full control: deleting the app removes its container, including all stickers, attachments and keys. That deletion is immediate and irreversible.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date above.
